Driveline optimisation
The aim of this project was to develop a new conceptual driveline analysis tool using finite element analysis and statistical response surfaces . This provided an ideal platform to test previously developed DYNA-LYTICS response surface techniques used for crankshaft damper optimisation. This new prediction methodology allowed the major car architectural decisions to be fully investigated early on in the vehicle program. This tool also allowed design of a superior driveline propshaft system compared to all luxury benchmark vehicles with respect to vehicle refinement. This tool was also modified for the optimisation strategy of elastomeric couplings using response surfaces and statistical techniques providing increased knowledge of coupling design parameters.
